About Us - Dandy Premix Quarries

Family Owned, Built on Trust and Performance

Dandy Premix Concrete Pty Ltd is a family owned and operated business with over 30 years of experience in the production and supply of quality premixed concrete to customers in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

In keeping with many Australian family business stories, Dandy Premix started from humble beginnings in the early 1980’s and through a combination of hard work and dependability, the business has evolved in parallel with growth of the south-east corridor of Melbourne.

Dandy Premix is now one of the foremost independent suppliers of premixed concrete in the south-east of Melbourne with over 60 concrete agitators and a supporting fleet of bulk quarry materials, cement delivery and other specialist vehicles.

Our concrete plants and quarry sites are conveniently located to meet the premixed concrete and civil construction needs of commercial, industrial and residential builders, as well as specialist concreters and the in-ground pool market throughout Melbourne’s expanding south-east region.

Integrated Construction Materials Supply

Since 2008 the business has strategically positioned itself to become a broader, more integrated construction materials supply business.

Against the background of concrete batching plants in operation at Dandenong, Cranbourne, Pakenham and Tyabb, 2008 saw Dandy Premix acquire the an established hard rock quarry at Launching Place (Yarra Valley Quarries - YVQ).

Following its acquisition in 2008, the YVQ resource extraction area was expanded in 2010. While the hard rock quarry’s primary role is to supply aggregates to the Dandy Premix concrete plants, it also operates to meet Yarra Valley local infrastructure needs for a range of crushed rock products.

In late 2013, Dandy Premix commenced development of a Greenfield sand quarry site at Grantville on the Bass Coast to further enhance the independent capacity and diversity of Dandy Premix.  The sale of concrete sand, along with a range of turf and construction sands began on a commercial scale from the Grantville Commercial Sands (GCS) site in early 2015.  The estimated volume of the GCS sand resource are such that it is forecast to operate for decades.

The YVQ and GCS quarries give Dandy Premix the capability to provide a range of accredited hard rock and sand products to a wide range of applications within the infrastructure and civil construction industries, including the sports turf and landscape sectors.

The Dandy Premix concrete manufacturing and quarry operations are supported by a modern bulk transport fleet, along with fully equipped workshops at our Cranbourne site for the service, maintenance and repair of static and/or mobile plant and equipment.  The mechanical workshop is a VicRoads Licensed Vehicle Testing Station.

Quality & Culture

The Dandy Premix concrete batch plants and quarry sites operate under our AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification.  This ensures that our products and services are delivered with a measured consistency.  In striving for continual improvement, the Dandy Premix QMS also provides that customer expectations are met and their satisfaction levels are monitored and acted upon.

The Dandy Premix business culture is focused on the development of successful, long term relationships with all our business stakeholders.  We engage openly and respectfully with customers and equally so with our local communities, always seeking to build trust and respect.

We are also committed to dealing sensitively with the impact of our operations on the environment, taking every opportunity to minimise such impacts while also continually endeavouring to provide net, long term  environmental gains, especially from our quarry land holdings.

Our approach is reinforced by the accessibility of senior management, who are actively engaged on a daily basis with all Dandy Premix core activities.  Senior management are constantly available and interact closely with customers and staff alike across all levels of our operatons.

Senior management also make themselves readily available to and regularly engage with our wider community stakeholders.
